Description

I am Levy Michaels. Once my kind were the hunters—now we are the hunted.Supernaturals are out of the closet but I have to stay hidden because of the type of magic I possess. I’m a Legacy. It sounds like the title should come with reverence, a trust fund, or at the very least a cool backstory—instead it comes with a death sentence.I have to hide in plain sight and pretend to be just human. I’m pretty good at it. I live a simple and somewhat normal life, and I work in antique acquisitions. Everything’s going fine until a dangerous and enchanted dagger that was once in my possession is stolen. I didn’t think things could get any worse until I woke up next to a dead shifter, fae, and mage, without any memory of the past twenty-four hours.Considered guilty of murder by most of the magical community and humans, I must work with Gareth, the sexy and dangerous leader of the Supernatural Guild. If he’s as good as rumored, it’s only a matter of time until he discovers the truth about me—then being found guilty of murder is the least of my worries.

Thank you Miss Hunter! What an engaging read and honestly I wasn't sure I had much faith when I started. I figured it'd turn into just another of those series with a "strong" female protagonist who can't ask for help or take advice and just charges off to get a beat down that she overcomes because she's just so OP.Instead Levy is smart, resourceful, and makes the best decisions she can given the circumstances. There's a moment she does go in alone which is dumb though she called for backup. That was the make-or-break moment for me had she not asked for backup I don't think I'd be heading over to read book 2. I'm tired of heroines that for whatever reason are considered tough or strong because they are stupidly independent. I mean to the point of idiocy and should have died at the start!!World building was phenomenal I was able to clearly picture this new world. The characters were well developed though I can't quite put my finger on why I'm feeling something is missing. I think it's probably a missing depth to some of the characters. Not "fleshy" enough. Gareth, Kalen, and Lucas are question marks to me. Perhaps this is because our FMC is too focused on not being found out that it's written from a perspective she is only seeing one side of them. Her aversion to vampires somewhat reminds me of Anita Blake who always frustrated me when it came to Jean-claude because daayumm AIR?! Actually, I'll have to think this over because I just finished the book and it wasn't until I typed that thought out that I realised some large parallels. (Do not make a mistake her books were fantastic so it's a high compliment to Miss Hunter!)Not sure this review will be helpful or not it's more just my meandering thoughts I suppose. I believe anyone, whether they are hard-core lovers of urban fantasy or not, will be gripped by this story. I believe women will find Levy relatable, strong, and intelligent. It will be hard to put the book down (I read it in half a day really though I had to sleep since it was 5 am!!) And not because its super fast paced and packed with too many action scenes more like you get carried gently along with this amazing character. It's very hard for me to describe it exactly and it's a complete story in the sense that a portion of it ends. Do they call this a mild cliffhanger? Because the entire story isn't complete only a piece of the overall plot is concluded by the end. (Is Savannah gonna end up a vampire enquiring minds want to know!!! Haha)Take a chance on this one and I do believe you will be pleasantly surprised! It's a fresh take on magic or at least it was in my opinion and I'm a voracious reader of Urban fantasy. In fact I'd rather even say a fresh take on the evolution of magic and its origins!Pretty sure you'll never read this but thank you Miss Hunter! I've been longing for something that felt like a real read and not just fluff and you've managed that here. It takes special and great talent to write something that's this engrossing!Happy reading !!
